Galen Staengl designs cutting-edge energy-efficient heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for Passiv Science’s high performance green building projects. His diverse background includes work in the chemical process industries, the pharmaceutical industry, and the building construction industry. Throughout his career Mr. Staengl has worked to bring energy efficient and sustainable design principles into his projects for award winning schools, institutional buildings, and office buildings. An expert in both Passivhaus (aka “Passive House”) and LEED construction, he is currently providing mechanical design and energy analysis for a 30 building campus that intends to achieve Net-Zero energy and water use.
In addition to his design experience, Mr. Staengl is an accomplished energy modeler using IES VE, DesignBuilder, DOE2, VisualDOE, eQuest and EnergyPro software. This modeling experience includes LEED compliance documentation as well as analysis of specific strategies for energy savings and life cycle costs. He has also provided energy consulting and commissioning services for a wide variety of systems and building types.
